The Nordic School of Lima will incorporate the Finnish program Kide Science into its educational proposal, aimed at promoting STEAM skills in children from early childhood.
“It is estimated that 90% of future jobs will require STEAM skills (science, technology, engineering, arts, mathematics). In this sense, we have partnered with a renowned Finnish company, Kide Science, to offer children the opportunity to explore natural world phenomena in a fun way, motivating them to continue learning throughout life,” comments Maria Ruuskanen, promoter of the Nordic International School of Lima.
Kide Science is a Finnish startup founded by Dr. Jenni Vartiainen, a researcher at the University of Helsinki, who has developed a playful methodology to promote STEAM skills in children from early childhood. Today the company is present around the world and has won numerous international awards, including the Global Edtech Startup Award (GESA).
“We invite our little scientists to solve fascinating problems by immersing themselves in an imaginary scientific setting: a fantasy world called Supraland,” relates Sari Hurme-Mehtälä, CEO of Kide Science. “The moment they play that they are real scientists who are solving real problems, the children become empowered and become the protagonists of their own learning,” explains Hurme-Mehtälä.
The Kide Science program will be available to Nordic International School of Lima students starting March 2021.
